
Under One Roof was a television programme in Singapore. First aired in 1995, Under One Roof was the first locally-produced English-language sitcom in Singapore. A critical and popular success, the show won the Best Comedy Programme or Series Award at the Asian Television Awards in both 1996 and 1997, a Best comedy actor award,three best comedy actress awards and was a finalist in the "Best Sitcom" category at the International Emmy Awards as well as the New York Festivals Awards.It paved the way for future sitcoms like Happy Belly, Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd, Mr. Kiasu, and Living with Lydia. It starred a multicultural cast reflecting the ethnic makeup of Singapore: Moses Lim, Koh Chieng Mun, Vernetta Lopez, Nicholas Lee, Andrew Lim, Selena Tan, Zaibo, Norleena Salim and Daisy Irani. In later seasons where Selena Tan's character made an appearance, Chinese-Hong Kong actor Richard Ng was cast to play Bobby, Anita's father.

It's been one year since Paul and Anita got married. And it's great news again; Yusof is getting married - again! His new bride is Ramona: besides being an avid amateur masseuse, she blends her own pure essential oils for sale and used to own a shop called "Ramonatherapy". She and the Tans meet for the first time and awkwardness ensues. Anita and Paul have been living with the Tans for a year now. Anita is becoming tired of the lack of privacy and wants their own digs. Paul finally agrees, but before they can decide on a flat to buy, Dolly purchases the flat next door without consulting them first, much to Anita's distress. Will Paul and Anita succumb to her wishes like obedient children, or is it time to make a stand?
01. No place like home

02. Renovation Blues

Paul and Anita's new flat needs renovation. Who else to call but the best contractor in Singapore, JB and some say Batam - the inimitable Mr. Phua Chu Kang? That's right, Singapore's favourite contractor meets Singapore's favourite family for the first time, and anything goes! Unfortunately, Dolly and Anita have very different ideas about how the flat should be renovated - in particular, Dolly wants to have a connecting door between the two flats so that she will have unlimited access to Paul's flat. Anita objects vehemently. How will this impasse be resolved? Even the redoubtable Chu Kang is at his wits' end when caught between these two females on the warpath.
03. Daddy's home

Paul and Anita finally get some peace. They are just beginning to enjoy their newfound freedom and privacy and were about to embark on some intimacy when… Bobby returns! He shows up a week early, unannounced, and promptly sets up home in the new flat. Paul and Anita's love life suffer from yet another unwanted intrusion. Another unannounced return takes place - this time it is Yusof's UK-trained architecture-graduate son, Johari. He is not quite sure how to react to his new step-mother, Ramona. In turn, Ramona feels awkward seeing her step-son for the first time. Assistance arrives from an unexpected quarter - in the form of Daisy's pesky brother Michael, to whom Johari inexplicably looks for advice and counsel.
04. Fixing things

The renovation in Paul and Anita's flat is finished. Or is it? What began as an innocuous shower for Paul soon turns into a drench-fest for the Tans, and even the downstairs flat gets flooded. Its occupant, a lovable Scotsman by the name of Liam MacDougal, soon finds his way to Paul's flat, only to cause Denise to fall - twice. But Denise is confused about her feelings for Liam - is he a plague to be avoided, or the best thing that's ever happened to her? For those waiting to see Denise get kissed, this is the episode to watch! Bobby and Teck compete to fix Paul's broken shower. After Paul decides to fix it himself, they move on to fix other things, much to Dolly's anxiety. Ramona and Dolly scheme to keep Bobby and Teck occupied with TV and good food, and soon their plan appears to be working. Or is it?
05. Mind your own business

Dolly is concerned about Teck's health and enlists Bobby's help to whip him into shape. Unfortunately, things take a few unexpected turns and culminate in a kung-fu showdown between Teck and Bobby. Who will end up the victor and who the vanquished? Whatever the outcome, it can only be one thing - unthinkable! Ramona and Johari seem to have developed a tacit understanding, but Yusof is completely unable to fathom his own son. Just when he thinks Johari is a complete wash-out, he gets a surprise from Johari that can only be described as - rather delicious! Liam and Denise see each other again. This time, they've moved on and both seem to be quite comfortable in each other's company - as long as they can keep the accidents down to a minimum!
06. Too close for comfort

Daisy begins to wonder what it is like to be a housewife like Dolly and Ramona. She understands that if she ever gets married, she will have to learn the ropes of being one. So she tries a dry-run - with some hilarious results. It's time for Bobby to say goodbye! He has been chased out of Paul and Anita's flat, he has stayed with the Tan's as a guest long enough. Now the renovations in his flat are complete, and he is finally moving into his own place. He says his goodbyes, but not before surprising the pants off everybody one last time! Denise and Liam continue to meet each other, but secretly without the knowledge of Teck and Dolly. Denise fears that they will object to her seeing an "ang-moh", and the general stigma of being romatically linked to a Caucasian man. Will she give in to the pressures, or will she continue seeing the one she believes she loves?
07. Not in front of your parents
2001-02-12
Dolly and Teck's 35th wedding anniversary is just round the corner. However, they feel neglected when everyone else is wrapped up in their own problems and no one seems to care. Ronnie returns from Germany with a girl band called "Achtung!" and a new squeeze named Claudia, shocking the elder Tans out of their wits. Paul and Anita's marriage is on the rocks as Anita is too inundated with work to give Paul any attention. Denise tries to keep her relationship with Liam a secret from her parents but without much success. Daisy is over the moon when she thinks Frank is going to propose. Just when the Teck and Dolly think their problems can't get any worse, they catch Ronnie and Claudia wearing nothing but bath towels...
08. They think its all over
2001-02-19
Paul and Anita's disagreements come to a head, and Paul moves out of the matrimonial home. Denise brings Liam home only to have her worst fears confirmed. Daisy is constantly dreaming of the moment when Frank will propose. Johari comes up with his own rebus concoction, Fettucine Rebus, and he and Yusof compete to see who's mee rebus is better. Teck and Dolly try to celebrate their wedding anniversary themselves, with disastrous consequences. Soon, things start turning around. Paul and Anita make up, and the competition between Yusof and Johari for best mee rebus hots up. Finally, Teck and Dolly get a surprise, Frank does the right thing with Daisy, Denise is asked to bring Liam over again, and Paul has one more tremendous announcement to make! All's well that ends well, so Singapore's favourite family is now large and closer than ever before!
